'The Rouge Et Noirs' as this great club like to go by were one of the founding members of the first division of French football along with Montpellier, Nice and Marseille. They are actually the only club to have played in the inaugural 1932-33 Season that are still playing in the first division as of today. Yet they surprisingly have never won Ligue 1.
The club is highly regarded as having one of the best youth teams in France. Several talents to have flourished after starting out at Stade Rennais from a young age are; Sylvain wiltord, Yann M'vila and Yoann Gourcuff amongst others.
One game not to be missed is the Derby Breton. Stade Rennais are one of the most recognisable clubs in the Brittany region and host a fierce rivalry alongside former Brittany inhabitants Nantes.
