Chelsea Football Club has been a fantastic team to watch since the team was taken over by their new German Manager Thomas Tuchel. After a disappointing run by the club’s legend and former player Frank Lampard.

During his time as the club’s coach, Frank Lampard discovered a lot of academy talents, including the club’s 2020/21 season best player award winner Mason Mount. Reece James, Fikayo Tomori (now in AC Millan), Tammy Abraham (now in AS Roma), and others make Frank Lampard's team.

But afterwards, Frank Lampard made some decisive signings. Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, and Ben Chilwell are part of the signings for the 2020/21 season. But all expectations crashed down due to poor performance from the team at the start of the 2020/21 season. Though the team did not have a bad run in the Champions League, Chelsea was woeful in the domestic competition.

Thomas Tuchel was appointed manager after Lampard was sacked due to the bad run. And since then, the club has taken on a new turn. Chelsea finished fourth in the EPL table, right after Liverpool. Also, the club went ahead to win the most prestigious trophy in Europe, the Champions League, after beating a fellow Premier League team, Manchester City. The Chelsea Champions League final was played in Porto.

Under Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea also won the Europa Super Cup after beating Villareal in a penalty shootout. The team also beat the renowned Brazillian football club, Palmeiras, to win their first FIFA Club World Cup in the United Arabs Emirates.

With these excellent records, it is logical to say Chelsea can win the UEFA Champions League back-to-back, but that is still up for consideration.

Why Chelsea Can Win The Champions League Back To Back

The Champions League trophy, without a doubt, is the most sought-after in Europe. Many big football clubs in Europe dream of becoming the winner every season, even though it has only been a futile endeavour for many. Clubs like Manchester City, PSG, and Arsenal are only dreaming of laying hold of this trophy because, till now, they have never won the trophy.

But Real Madrid has laid the example for Chelsea that it is possible to win the Champions League Trophy. They have a record of winning the Champions League trophy from 1956 to 1960, five consecutive seasons. The thirteen-time winner of the Champions League trophy also sets the football club's record with the most Champions League trophy win and the most consecutive trophy win.

Some factors can see Chelsea through to winning the trophy back to back, just like Real Madrid, and they are written below.

Managerial prowess

After the appointment of Thomas Tuchel, Chelsea Football Club has experienced a positive turnaround in their men’s team performance. The German has inputted discipline and commitment into the team's playing style. This is evident in their Champions League run in the 2020/21 season, even though they faced formidable opponents.

In addition to his tactical acumen and versatility, Tuchel is well-known for implementing cutting-edge training techniques into his regiment. Tuchel was renowned for making numerous changes to the starting lineup during his early stint; between January and March of 2021, Thomas Tuchel made 39 changes to the starting XI in 10 Premier League games. This is to keep his game unpredictable for opponents. He mostly liked a 3–4–2–1 formation, with the wingbacks primarily responsible for ball movement.

In addition to having good communication abilities with players, Tuchel is known for keeping training sessions light and fun. In addition, the outstanding German manager employs a variety of activities, such as little footballs and the use of hands instead of feet in specific training sessions.

Lethal attacking force

Chelsea has built one of the best attacking forces in the English Premier League. The attacking force has been lethal with some fantastic players like Kai Havertz. Since joining the club from Bayern Leverkusen, Kai Havertz has lived up to the fans' expectations.

Timo Werner has established himself as a key member of Chelsea's attacking force with his outstanding speed and threat to the defence. Even though his early years at Chelsea under Frank Lampard were not successful, and he did not get as many goals as his last season with RB Leipzig, He has become a better player under the management of Thomas Tuchel.

Ziyech is another brilliant attacker in the Chelsea Champions League squad. When Ziyech plays on the right flank, he likes to start wide and work his way into situations where he can provide a danger to the goal, either with shots, balls, or crosses.

He's most dangerous when he gets into the middle of the field and tries to find teammates making diagonal runs towards the goal from the left with killer passes. Chelsea has a chance to win the Champions League thanks to his services to the offensive force.

Solid defence

Chelsea’s defence has been solidified since the coming of Thomas Tuchel. Since the manager was a former defender in his playing days, he knows the effect of having a solid defence in a football team.

The coming of the brilliant Brazilian defender, Thiago Silva, has greatly improved the team's defence. The experienced player has brought his influence and class into the Chelsea defence, giving the likes of Antonio Ruediger, Malang Sarr, and Andreas Christensen confidence to play as a wall in Chelsea’s defence.

Amazing midfielders

When we talk about Chelsea’s midfield, Ngolo Kante's name comes to mind effortlessly. Players of his class can help teams secure the Champions League. Mason Mount is another brilliant developing midfielder in Chelsea. The Chelsea academy graduate has been consistently making an impact in the midfield. Chelsea can win the Champions League back to back with great potential like Mount, partnering with Ngolo Kante, Matheo Kovacic, and the Jorginho.

Why Chelsea Cannot Win Champions Leagues Back To Back

In the bid to win the Champions League back to back, Chelsea Champions League fixtures saw Chelsea progress through the group stage matches in the 2021/22 Champions League. Chelsea Champions League group also has Juventus, Malmo, and Zenit. Chelsea played Lille in the round of 16 and won but could not hold on to the back-to-back win due to the 3:1 defeat against Real Madrid in Stamford Bridge.

Though they tried to turn the situation around with a victory at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium in Spain, the late goal from Rodrigo saw the two teams into extra time, where Karim Benzema showed a display of class by scoring the winner.
