This weekend marks the return to the English Premier League from the UEFA Champions League. For some, this week presents itself as an opportunity to prepare for their fixtures at the weekend whilst for others, it means a huge shift in focus over a matter of days, a depleted squad and the media spotlight.

For Chelsea the latter remains the case. Last year’s Premier League winners now find themselves in an ever-growingly difficult situation as the increase in games due to different competitions has resulted in the injuries of many key players. This combined with Antonio Conte’s failed efforts at creating a better squad depth has caused cracks to show. Last weekend they lost to bottom of the league Crystal Palace, a side that had not yet scored this season.

Watford however placed seventeenth in last year’s Premier League table but this season they’re placed higher than some of the most successful clubs in history. In beating Arsenal last weekend they’re now fourth in the league, one place but two points ahead of Chelsea. They face each other at the weekend in an epic bout for the position to qualify for next year’s UEFA Champions League. Secure your Chelsea v Watford tickets today.

Manchester City have already left their mark on Chelsea and Watford this season. Six goals separated the Citizen’s and The Hornets, their biggest lead so far this season. Although Manchester City only beat last year’s victors 1-0 it was still an embarrassing defeat for the Champions as an ex-prospect of the club returned to Stamford Bridge to haunt them. Kevin De Bruyne placed what can only be considered a screamer past his belgian teammate, Thibaut Courtois, to continue the unbelievably impressive winning streak by Manchester City.

Alvaro Morata was in incredible form at the beginning of the season but due to a hamstring injury, Antonio Conte has been forced to place Michy Batshuayi in the Spaniard's place, despite a lack of confidence in the 24 year-old Belgian. This is perhaps what your textbook Chelsea fan would blame their lack of success on, so far. However in the week where Alvaro Morata is spotted back at the training ground, will their luck change? Or will they simply find another excuse for their underperformance? Find out first hand by purchasing your Stamford Bridge Tickets here at Football Ticket Pad.

The current standings in the Premier League are quite obviously not set in stone but, as each game passes positions become harder to shift. Already it seems inevitable that Crystal Palace face relegation this season. Although there’s still a long way to go, a lot of people are behind Manchester City to blow all their competition completely out the water this term. It’s undeniable that after last weekend’s performances, Watford seem the favourites. They beat Arsenal with a late winner by Tom Cleverley and their team morale is at an all-time high as the last minute goal scorer states; “With this squad of players and staff, you look forward to going into work on a Monday.”

Chelsea however have lost their last two games against both the top of the league team and bottom of the league team consecutively. But players returning from injury could reinject a much needed enthusiasm to score goals and win games. Either way this fixture is not one to miss!
